I know this is pretty insignificant, but I find this kind of cool. In addition to Apple having a completely independent gift card display at my local grocery store, the Apple Store gift cards are based on the colors of the iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and the iPads. The custom priced gift card is based on the iPhone 5c's white color. The $25 gift card is based on the iPhone's silver color. The $50 gift card is based on the iPhone's space gray color. The $100 gift card is based on the iPhone's gold color. It's an interesting Easter Egg. Check out the pictures below.

Third party vendors have already started to manufacture reversible Lightning cables with USB Type-C ports. To learn more about this, check out my post about the subject. Basically Truffol has created one, priced at $9.99. It's a meter long. I haven't tried this, and I doubt it's certified by Apple (buy at your own risk). But try it out if you want. If you're tired of pictures not taking up the full screen on your iPhone 5, this is for you (iPhone 5 only)! Instead of taking a picture, take video and tap the camera icon in one of the corners (depending on your device orientation). This takes a picture in a full screen shot. Check it out (don't forget to delete the video)! Here are some examples below.
P.S. I'm sorry if this looks really bad, but it's what I had to work with at 6:30 AM. Also, the picture differences are easier to see on an iPhone 5, so I suggest if you have one, to save these pictures by tapping and holding each picture and tapping save.

Recently, Apple has unleashed a new iPhone 5 ad entitled, "Music Every Day". Last month, Apple made an ad named, "Photos Every Day" with a song with the same name in the background. The song in the new ad sounds very inverse to the older ad. I love these songs. Very simple and sophisticated. And the ads advertise features and don't make fun of other companies. I like it like that.
T-Mobile is now accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 5. T-Mobile is the only major carrier to not have the iPhone 5 yet. For single lines, there is no contract. If I'm correct, this means you can cancel anytime without a fee. Also, you only have to pay $50/month for unlimited minutes, unlimited text, and 500 MB of data. $10 extra for 2.5 GB of data. Another $10 for unlimited. That makes two carriers still offering unlimited data for the iPhone. That's a good deal. A really good deal (hint, hint). Data is slowed to 2G speeds once the data cap has been reached. I'm not sure if there's any penalties for going over your limit. Apple has made no statement.
To find out if an app is optimized for an iPhone 5 (made to work with the tall screen) without having to buy it, go to the App Store and find an app. Scroll all the way to the bottom and look at the section that says "Requires". If it is optimized for iPhone 5, it will say, "Optimized for iPhone 5". Otherwise, it won't mention it. I hope this helps.

To take pictures while recording, open the camera app on an iPhone 5. Take some video and tap the camera button that is in one of the corners. This takes a picture. It is saved in the Camera Roll. Sorry for the short post for today. :-( More tomorrow.
The dictation on the iPhone 5 (also on models as old as the iPhone 3GS) (along with Siri as well) is perfect. To activate it, open up anything that requires your digital keyboard (except when typing websites, credentials, etc.) and tap on the microphone in the bottom right corner and speak what you want to type. When done, tap "Done". There you go! And I give this five-out-of-five Geek Glasses.
My Uncle Wally recently got a iPhone 4S and he wanted to know what the differences were between the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5. So, let's take the iPhone 4S (Older version) and the iPhone 5 (Latest version). If you put them side by side, the only thing you will notice is the screen size. However, there are many more differences. Here's a list of most of the differences:
The iPhone 5 has an A6 chip instead of an A5 chip (Faster processor)
The iPhone 5's unibody has a layer of glass removed to make it thinner and lighter
The iPhone 5 has either a black and slate color or a white and silver color while the iPhone 4S only has black or white.
The iPhone 5 has 4G LTE (Long-Term-Evolution) a.k.a. blazing fast cellular
The iPhone 5 has a Nano-SIM Card while the iPhone 4S has a Micro-SIM Card
The iPhone 5's front camera has a 1.2 Megapixel camera while the iPhone 4S's only has VGA resolution (Less resolution)
The front camera on the iPhone 5 also has 720p HD video while the iPhone 4S's only has VGA resolution (Less resolution)

If you've ever owned a phone not made by Apple, this may be useful for you. Apple now sells an adapter for Micro-USB to Lightning. It's very small and had many uses. It just connects an iOS device with Lightning to any Micro-USB cable. It's main purpose is to charge or sync a device.
For those who don't know, answering a call on an iPhone may be more difficult than you think. First, you get a call. If your iPhone's screen is off, a slide to answer slider is shown. If you are using your phone, two buttons appear. One to answer and one to decline. To decline a call with the slider, press the lock button (top button). To be reminded to call back or to send a message (while declining the call), slide up the bottom right phone and two options will appear (iOS 6 required). I think you can take it from here. Congrats! You've uncovered the secrets of answering a call!
Wow! That took forever to type! Just the name of the phone took a long time. Anyways, if you haven't seen this commercial, it completely makes fun of the iPhone 5. Honestly, if they were to make fun of those people who waited in line, they should've made a joke about the guy who dropped his brand new iPhone. But they didn't. In my opinion, I am totally offended. The people in the line sounded like they have been living in a cave for the past four years. Even their voice was dulled and was forced. And I personally love waiting in the line. The excitement is in the air. Some of these features are on the iPhone. And I could on and on about how much I don't like this commercial and find reasons why half of the content is inaccurate, but I'll just roll the film.
P.S. Isn't it illegal to send and obtain songs for free? Just saying.

I recently reviewed the iPhone 5 at an Apple Store. It's the most amazing iPhone ever!
At First Glance:
When you first see the phone, it looks somewhat different. It comes in two colors. The black color looks sleeker. The white color looks like a jewel. Last I checked, people like jewels. The texture of the back side feels nice to just feel. It doesn't even feel taller. Just lighter. Crazy light. How does that work? It's magic.
Camera:
This camera is amazing! The camera lens is made out of sapphire crystal. When you use it, you can take up to five shots in one second. Just compare it with a 4S. It's faster than already fast. Panorama pictures are also amazing! They are so pretty. And it's so easy to make one.
Performance:
With the brand new A6 chip and LTE networking, the new iPhone is very fast from downloading an app to talking to Siri. What else is there to say? It's fast and powerful.
iOS 6:
iOS 6 comes with many new features. iPhone 5 takes advantage of all of them. Hands down, my absolute favorite iOS 6 feature has to be Passbook. If you're looking to fill your virtual wallet, try the Starbucks app or the Target app and sign up for Mobile Coupons. Also, Siri is very accuate even in a noisy Apple Store. For Maps, I know about the flaws and Apple is working hard to fix them. Otherwise, I think the Apple Maps app is great. I love the new "Tap to Resume Navigation" feature.
Lightning Connector:
Although the Lightning connector is hard to test out the reversibility feature because of the docking system (Sure Apple! Why not make a dock only for Apple Stores and their resellers?), I did try it and it was functional and a great feature.
All in all, the iPhone 5 is the most amazing iPhone yet. From it's look to it's features, I highly recommend this as your next phone. Because of that, I give it five out of five geek glasses for a great camera, speed, OS, and other great features…
...for the AT&T model. For the Verizon and Sprint models, I give them four and a half out of five geek glasses because of the carrier limitations like the inability to use data while on a call.

When the iPhone 5 was announced, there was one thing that was missing. And no, it's not an iPhone Loop or Near Field Communication feature, or NFC. Although I think that would cool, that's not what's missing. There is no dock. And it's official, because Apple's own Phil Schiller (Senior Vice President of Marketing) sent an email about it.
Schiller wrote:
We do not plan on making a dock for the iPhone 5. Most people who use docks use them with speaker or clock systems.
He signed the email with, "Sent from my iPhone 5".
A few days ago, I looked deep in Apple's website and found a screenshot of the iCloud settings in iOS 6. What I found is a setting showing Passbook using iCloud. Does this exchange passes over the cloud? Probably. However, Passbook is not compatible with the iPad. Meaning, that you can't exchange passes with the tablet. That leaves you with the iPod Touch. Unless you have two iPhones using the same iCloud account.

One of the most missed handy features of iOS is the caps lock function. To use it, simply double-tap the shift button on your iOS device while typing. You should now be able to type in all capitals. To return to normal typing, tap the shift key. If this doesn't work, go to Settings > General > Keyboard and set "Enable Caps Lock" to on.
Apple has already sold out on pre-sale orders for the iPhone 5. In only an hour, Apple sold out and now the expected delivery time is 2-3 weeks. If you want the iPhone ASAP, you're going to have to camp out in front of your local Apple Store and get it on September 21st.
