How to Upgrade an iOS Device

  1. Check Google or the Apple Support Forums for any possible bugs for the update (Search terms include iOS 6 bugs, iOS update bugs, etc.).
  2. Backup to the cloud or to a computer with iTunes.
  3. Check available space on the iOS device.
  4. Plug the device to a charger or computer (if updating from computer).
  5. Update from a computer (iTunes > iOS device's Menu > Software Update) or from the device (Settings > General > Software Update).
  6. Follow the procedure.
