Google Glass 2.0

Google Glass 2
Remember Google Glass? It's finally back, but for enterprise. What? Well, while it is nice to see Glass getting some practical application, what about all the consumers who want to get their hands-- I mean faces on this product? And what about the "explorers" who paid $1500 for it? Do they get an upgrade? It doesn't seem like it, which is a shame because leaks show the device with a better processor and better battery. Not only that, but it only has half of a frame instead of a full frame (shown to the right). Probably the number one complaint from the device was that it would overheat and the battery was too small. Hopefully, these groups will get their chance. If you want to hear my impressions of the original Google Glass, check out my (really old) review below.

Google Glass Explorers Being Accepted Tomorrow at 6am (PDT)

Tomorrow, April 15th, you can become a Google Glass Explorer. Note that a Glass Explorer is a beta tester and not an actual final product. That said, you must also be 18 years old, live within the US, and be willing to fork over $1,500. Google Glass is a device that you wear on your head. The display is a prism that is slightly translucent and can show information quickly. Google Glass also takes voice commands.

Yes, that's what I look like wearing Google Glass.

Google Glass: Finding More Ways to Stalk Society Since 2014!

Search your name on Google. Right now. Is there anything that shows up with your name? Any Facebook photos or a bio from Twitter? We all know that anyone can see this information and that we shouldn't put too much of our information online. Well, this search just got a little creepier. Meet NameTag. This Glass app detects faces, sends them to an online database with millions of other's faces, matches them, and tells you every single detail about them. Social networks, jobs, interests, criminal records, residence, you name it! For whatever reason, developers think that we want this. Honestly, who would want this? Who would feel comfortable knowing that someone out there can know every detail of you without even needing to know your name? Comment below as to how you feel about this idea.

Google Glass: First Impressions (Explorer Edition)

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to try out Google Glass (Explorer Edition / Beta Version), the wearable device that lets people use certain operations that they could do on a smart device, but hands-free. The first thing I want to note is the hardware. Google Glass has some features that aren't apparent at first glance. The first feature is the trackpad. On the right side of Glass, there is a small surface where one can use simple gestures to navigate through screens. Also, it seems that Glass will have specially made lens and sunglasses made for Glass, however regular eyeglasses (at least mine) fit fine while wearing Glass. The prism that is used as the display is a futuristic screen. It, in a way, looks like R2-D2's hologram. Slightly tinted and translucent. As for the size, it is the equivalent of "a 25 inch high definition screen from eight feet away (Google)." The display can also be projected to a smartphone using the app for iPhone or Android. The camera has a slight angle above your eye, so calibrate for that when you record a video or take a video. As for software, look forward to the Glass App Store (which isn't available yet, but probably will be with the final product). The only really cool app is the navigation (Google Maps). It's nice to have an annotated version of the road in front of you in the corner of your vision. It's helpful and not distracting. As for Glass overall, it's definitely something to look forward to (as long as you don't mind being pulled over in you car from time to time or being thrown out of the movies) once it's price comes down and the product is refined in the final version. The current price is about $1499 and it should hopefully come down to $499 (just an estimate by me).

Anticipated Technology for 2013

Here are one of my tech pieces for my school's broadcast. I hope you like it.

P.S. I'm sorry that I said, "Although we are already well into April."
I shot this video in April. Also, sorry for the weird audio glitch!

Missing out on the Google Glass hype?

If you're outside of the U.S. and want in on trying Google Glass, you're not alone. Google Glass is receiving a lot of negative feedback from this situation. In addition, it seems that when people tweet about the situation, @ProjectGlass replies with almost the EXACT same format. Take a look.

Try out Google Glass!

Source: Google
If you haven't heard yet, Google is making a augmented reality device known as Glass. Not surprisingly, the technology field seems to be taking an interest into augmented reality as the public seems to want to merge their lives in with technology. Glass is a futuristic piece of technology that looks like it was ripped right from some comic book (or my invention journal from fifth grade). However, instead of making a huge piece of glass covering your eyes, it only covers the top-right region of your eye. Here, it can tell you time, weather, and more. Now, you can test this product out. You must be a resident of the United States and must be 18 years old. Unfortunately for me, I'm not 18 years old yet. Oh, yeah. I forgot to mention that you must fork over $1500 to Google. Like they don't have enough money from advertising. I mean, just look at their headquarters. It's 25 times the size of Yahoo!'s headquarters! Anyways, to get Google's attention, just tweet or Google+ the hash tag #ifihadglass and put in your two cents (TIP: two cents is less than 50 words) about what you would use Google Glass for. As for me, I think it might be worth waiting for. As if I have a choice. Here's what I tweeted:

#ifihadglass I would be over 18 years old. But seriously, I would wear it to school and do an epic review on them.
