Apple's Potential Shift That Could Satisfy Pro Users

For several years, Apple has dropped the ball when it comes to its pro user base, and Apple has acknowledged that. 2019 is supposed to be the decisive year to finally turn that around. Thanks to Ming-Chi Kuo, we have some new information that supports this. Kuo says that we can expect an all new design for the MacBook Pro and Mac Pro. In addition, Apple will ship a 31-inch 6K display for use with the Mac Pro. Apple creating a display adds up with statements Phil Schiller said a few years ago. Kuo is a very reliable source, so it's exciting to hear this kind of news. While this is a vague outline of everything these products could be, it gives us an idea of how Apple is responding to criticism of their pro products.

iMac Pro Owners Receive Survey

With little news about Apple's plan to revitalize the Mac Pro, iMac Pro users have received a survey regarding the iMac Pro. a f waller‏ on Twitter has posted some of the questions, noting that the survey has a large focus on why iMac Pro users bought an iMac Pro over other Macs and other computers. The iMac Pro is currently Apple's highest end computer, while the Mac Pro hasn't been touched since 2013. Keep in mind, the Mac Pro was supposed to revolutionize the pro desktop, even receiving a movie theater preview. Apple has been vocal about releasing a proper successor to the Mac Pro in 2019. This survey may have some influence on it.

New Mac Pro Launching in 2019

From TechCrunch, Apple's new Mac Pro will be launching in 2019. Apple is stressing that this Mac will be truly geared towards professionals. This has been a growing concern in recent years, so it's nice to have acknowledgement directly from Apple. Apple also stated that it will not be launching any sooner, so don't expect some miracle breakthrough. I'm looking forward to seeing what Apple has planned. Their transparency is hopefully a sign of change for professionals who need Apple's tech to keep up.

With Mac Pros and new displays not coming for some time, let's look at a really cool concept for them. CURVED/labs has created this concept. It's modular, has a Touch Bar, and comes with ports galore. Check out the image and video below.

Potential Apple 8K Displays?

According to Pike's Universum, the rise of 8K displays may warrant Apple creating an 8K display for the next Mac Pro. We really don't have any details other than that. All we know is that Apple will make displays for the Mac Pro. 8K is certainly great for professionals, but a more affordable option would be helpful for the average consumer.

State of the Mac Pro

No matter what, no company can ever be considered perfect. Even Steve Jobs admitted this at the Antennagate Keynote for the iPhone 4. It's hard to deny Apple's short comings, but it's nice to finally hear some official word back from the company regarding them. Apple has long neglected catering to their "Pro" demographic, an important portion of the market to hold. While Apple has been traveling toward a post-PC world, they've turned away from their desktop user base as well. The same computer that Apple hyped up with parts made in the USA and its own movie trailer, would be the same computer to go over 1,200 days without a single refresh. It's also their most expensive computer. In the end, Apple said the new Mac Pro will be coming next year, with better upgradability. There will also be Apple-branded displays. While the computer is coming later than most would prefer, it's a big step that Apple was so transparent with today's news.

PC Pro?

If you've seen the Mac Pro before, then the Dune Case might look a bit familiar to you (pictured below in gold). This PC case is meant to bring a sleek design to PCs. It also has some thermal dynamic capabilities (inferior to those of the Mac Pro). Obviously, this is a copy of the Mac Pro's design (also shown below in black). This PC case is still in its Kickstarter phase, so if you'd like one, it costs $169 at the time of this post being published (based on backer tiers).

Mac Pro Daisy Chain Challenge

Macworld tried to see how many devices a Mac Pro can be connected to at once. One thing to note is that you can "daisy chain" six Thunderbolt devices to one Thunderbolt port. There are six Thunderbolt ports, which makes thirty-six potential devices. Added that to 15 USB devices and 2 FireWire devices. That's forty-two devices. Fun fact: the drive space capacity added up to 100.63 TB. One TB (Terabyte) is equal to 1024 GB (Gigabytes). One gigabyte is equal to 1024 MB (Megabytes). You can do a lot with a gigabyte (hopefully), so 100 terabytes. Wow.

Mac Pro

Today, the long awaited Mac Pro was released. The completely customizable, decked-out Macintosh from Apple. It works with up to three 4K (really big) displays. This computer is for professional movie makers and photographers. It now takes until February to ship. Remember that this was released today!

Apple iPad Event - Part 3

Mac Pro:

Apple announced the Mac Pro. This small powerhouse has everything cranked to the max! Thunderbolt 2, USB 3.0, and more!

MacBook Pro with Retina Display:

The MacBook Pro with Retina Display is the laptop version of the Mac Pro. It has a faster Intel processor.

A Brief Wrap-up

Today, Apple announced quite a few things. 

First off, they announced the iPad Air (iPad 5) along with the iPad Mini 2. 

Also, the Mac Pro and MacBook Pro with Retina Display were updated. 

Finally, Mac OS X Mavericks was released for free on the Mac App Store. Be sure to get a copy.

The iPad Air

It's Coming...

Tomorrow, the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 come out. Look forward to a recap by Wednesday night. Here is what is expected tomorrow. Keep in mind that these a pure rumors and may not come out. However, these rumors are pretty rock solid and should be anticipated.

iPad 5:

The iPad 5 is going to have thinner sides and a faster processor (A7X chip). The thinner sides make the iPad look like the iPad Mini a bit more.

One More Thing...

Apple tends to carry on Steve Job's famous "one more thing." Pretty much, at the end of a presentation, Steve Jobs would add little something, a feature, or maybe a hardware specialty. This year, it might be a keyboard cover for iPad or a new version of iTunes (this is totally my opinion and probably shouldn't be anticipated, especially after the release of iTunes Radio).
