OS X Photos App Isn't a Total Loss

When Apple announced that Aperture, the professional photo editing app, would have no more support after the OS X Photos app was released, many were disappointed. However, Ars Technica asked an Apple representative for more details on the Photos app. They said this:

"When asked about what Aperture-like features users can expect from the new Photos app, an Apple representative mentioned plans for professional-grade features such as image search, editing, effects, and most notably, third-party extensibility."
