Google Cardboard Plastic

As an April Fools' joke, Google made an addition to their Google Cardboard VR line, which is ironic because using a piece of cardboard for VR sounds crazy by its self. This addition is called Google Cardboard Plastic. It's literally just a piece of plastic shaped like Google Cardboard. The only difference is that you don't put your phone in it. Thus, you are now immersed in actual reality. The resolution and sound are as good as your vision and hearing. You can check out the promo video below.

New Year's Eve 2015 Google Doodle

Google has once again has made a Google Doodle for the coming 2016 year on their homepage. This year, it shows several birds making up the Gs, Os, and the E of the Google Logo. As for the L, it is represented by an egg with "2016" on it. And to represent the coming new year, it is ready to hatch. The birds anxiously await its hatching. Anyways, I will see all of you guys on the other side of the new year. Have a happy 2016!

Santa Tracker 2015

Once again, Google is letting you track Santa on his journey throughout the world, delivering toys to children. If you'd like to track him, go to the Google Santa Tracker. In addition, if you search something along the lines of "Google Santa Tracker," Google will give you his location (shown below). You can also play a variety of holiday themed games by going to the Google-sponsored Santa's Village! There's a lot of fun to be had here. Anyways, happy holidays and merry Christmas!

A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far, Far Away

In honor of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Google created a new Easter Egg in their search engine. If you type into Google, "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away," the results will be displayed in the way the opening sequence for the Star Wars movies. It's pretty cool. The only drawback is that it only shows the first 10 results. But overall, it's a pretty awesome Easter Egg. Be sure to check it out.

Google April Fools' Day 2015!

Today, we saw some interesting April Fools' jokes from Google and other companies (including a friendship Minecraft update), but my personal favorite is the PAC-MAN Google Maps joke. Just open Google Maps on your computer. Navigate to a spot you'd like to play (not all areas supported). Click the PAC-MAN pin on the map, or, if there is no pin available, click PAC-MAN. That's it. You can now play PAC-MAN in Google Maps! No one knows how long this will be up, so you should try playing on it now. Have fun!

Google Makes 2014 New Year's Google Doodle

As we all know, Google makes Google Doodles that go on their homepage, usually depicting something that captures the theme of that day. Today, you'll find a Google Doodle depicting some of the top searches of 2014. These include the 2014 World Cup, the Philae Philae robotic lander, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, the Mars Orbiter Mission, and Flappy Bird.

Just for fun, here's last year's Google Doodle...

Hanukkah Easter Egg in Google Search

As you may know, it's currently Hanukkah. If you search 'Hanukkah' (or a similar spelling) in Google, you'll be greeted with a Hanukkah themed Google page. There is a dreidel and a menorah. It's a nice little Easter Egg that not everyone will see. Be sure to check it out while it's there. I'm not sure how long it will it stay up, so enjoy it while it's still Hanukkah (December 16th - December 23rd for this year).

Google Celebrates Your Birthday!

Today is my birthday, so I wanted to show some of the ways that Google celebrates your birthday. Note that you must input your birthday into Google+. Check out the photos below for a visual as to how Google celebrates your special day.

When signed in, Google will give you your own
custom Google Doodle made entirely out of cake!

In Google Now for iPhone and Android, you will get the same
Google Doodle. If you have someone on Google+ in your circles,
their face will appear and it will show an option to wish them
happy birthday via a private message on Google+.

Even Google Glass gets in on the action with a timeline
card with- you guessed it- the Google Doodle of cake.

Stats For Nerds

Try going to any YouTube video and right-click on it. You might just find a button that says "Stats for Nerds". There's stuff like frame rates and stuff. It gives you a lot of stats, but it's nice to see Google have a nice sense of humor towards nerds and geeks alike.

Google Easter Egg: Recursion

Google Search has many secrets hidden in it's engine. One of the best search terms is "recursion." Recursion refers to loop infinitely or until something triggers that loop to stop.

Just search recursion on Google.

Then, you might just find a little surprise. No, you didn't spell it wrong, just click the suggestion that is shown. Congratulations, you've just created recursion! You went in a loop! Good luck getting out!
