Pac-Man has probably had one of the most profound impacts on Japanese culture in recent years. In fact, Pac-Man is the most recognizable video game character of all time. Unfortunately, his creator, Masaya Nakamura, passed away on January 22 at the age of 91. However, many would argue Nakamura had a life well lived. He created the Nakamura Amusement Machine Manufacturing Company, in hopes of bringing amusement to Japan. This company would later become Namco. He was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun by the Japanese government for his contributions. That was a huge honor to have. Nakamura was truly one of the great minds that took an idea and made it change the world. He wanted people to have fun, and that's what his company did best. May he rest in peace.
