Apple Music Subscribers Can Stream for Free on American Airlines Flights

Apple announced today that Apple Music subscribers will be able to stream music through Apple Music for free starting Friday. Any domestic flight equipped with Viasat satellite technology will offer this. With music being an essential part of any long flight, this is a pretty nice partnership. Today, people aren't used to being put in a situation where they don't have cellular access, so many travelers may find themselves without a downloaded playlist. This offer reminds me a lot of those T-Mobile deals, where you could stream from partnered services without having it impact your data. American Airlines will also offer city-themed playlists through Apple Music beginning on February 1. Overall, this is a pretty nice deal. All the more reason to join Apple Music. I love how Apple even has the marketing for this designed as an airline safety booklet.

App in the Air on Apple Watch

A lot of Apple Watch apps don't use the Apple Watch's capabilities to its maximum potential. Which is understandable, as Apple Watch isn't always the optimal device in many situations. However, App in the Air does a fantastic job of using Apple Watch for quick, useful information at a glance. The app can be used as a complication on your watch face. It can count down how much time is left on your flight, even when offline. It's fully compatible with Time Travel. About every six hours, it will remind you to stretch. This app recently served as my travel companion on my recent Japan trip and I highly recommend it for anyone going to travel, especially if they have an Apple Watch.

Travel Apps: Travelog

Want a quick, easy, and free way to remember your vacation? Travelog is the app for you. It lets you create "memory books" to organize your trips. It also uses a nice timeline to show your memories. Just add pictures, thoughts, check-ins, and more! Travelog is available for free off of the Apple App Store.

Travel Apps: Travel List

This app is probably one of the best ways to pack your stuff. It lets you keep track of what you've packed, set reminders, notifies you if you've forgotten to pack some items based on location, and plan when you leave. All of this and iCloud support. Travel List is available off of the Apple App Store for $2.99.

Travel Apps: Kayak

Kayak is one of the best travel apps I have on my iPhone. You can plan your vacation this Summer on Kayak.com and take it with you on your iOS device. Just go to the "My Trips" section on Kayak. On your iOS device, go to the trips section to get details. To forward your confirmation emails to automatically show up in your trips, forward the email to trips@kayak.com from the same email you use for your Kayak email. The process takes about 15 minutes. On your iPhone, you can get passes for Passbook by tapping the "Share" button (in the bottom right corner) in the plane or hotel details. More travel apps to come.
