TCL TVs Will Not Support AirPlay 2

Apple made the surprise announcement this week that AirPlay 2 would be built-in on leading smart TVs. However, it seems that TCL didn't get a memo from Apple as they had no announcement. Today, MacRumors asked a TCL spokesperson if there were any plans to add AirPlay 2 to TCL TVs. They responded by saying they're committed to Roku, which powers their TVs and rivals Apple TV. This isn't surprising. Walk into any Target or Walmart and go to the TV aisle and you will see 4K TVs with significant price drops compared to any other TV. I would not expect them to bundle AirPlay 2 in a TV that cheap. So far, Vizio, Samsung, LG, and Sony have announced support for AirPlay 2. I can imagine we may hear more at WWDC.

Sonos and AirPlay 2

We've heard little from Apple on the status on AirPlay 2. It's a nice idea, but we haven't actually seen it in action for the most part. Sonos has confirmed that some of their speakers will support AirPlay 2 [SourcE: Mac Observer]. Any Sonos speaker with touch controls will have AirPlay 2 support. Speakers without support can gain support if they are paired with a compatible Sonos speaker that is compatible with AirPlay 2. Hopefully this means that AirPlay 2 functionality isn't too far off.

HTC 10 Supports AirPlay

HTC doesn't always go with the flow when it comes to their smartphones. I remember they announced a phone that looked exactly like an iPhone. Now, they're actually implementing Apple's AirPlay into their new smartphone, the HTC 10. This makes the HTC 10 the first Android phone to officially support AirPlay out of box. It should be noted that AirPlay can be manipulated so that other devices can connect to an AirPlay device. It is also possible to be able to emulate an AirPlay device. That being said, it's likely that Apple had no say in the decision of this.
