With the launch of HomePod imminent, the next version of iOS 11 is also imminent. Currently, the beta of iOS 11.2.5 is nearing release, likely this week. It seems doubtful that HomePod support and the AirPlay 2 protocol would be quickly patched into a minor update. I’m speculating that iOS 11.3 could be released for HomePod support, alongside a new tvOS version for AirPlay 2 support. The only question left is when the HomePod will release. Apple will likely silently release it and sell out quickly. Probably within a few weeks.
