In iOS 8's new mail app, you can quickly hide those pesky emails that won't affect your life in anyway and clean up your inbox. This is called "archiving." Archiving is nice because it hides the email, but it doesn't delete it and is safely stored on your email provider's server. To archive an email, slide your finger from the far right of the screen all the way to the far left of the screen. This will archive your message. To get back an archived message, just select your email account (under accounts, not inboxes) in the mail app, select "All Mail," and it'll be in there along with all your other emails.
