According to Bloomberg, Apple's Siri, Amazon's Alexa, and other voice assistants are being held back by a lack of advancements in microphone technology. In a world where cameras and displays are constantly updated, people tend to forget about the phone part of a smartphone. Microphones have long been neglected. This causes phones to not properly be able to detect speech accurately. How many microphones, the quality of them, and their placement all are factors for how well these services will work. Hopefully, we'll see better microphones as time goes on.
